Wishes and Dreams

  • Dec. 7th, 2008 at 9:48 AM
confused, curious, thoughtful, contemplative, pensive
I wish I could get one of those permanent accounts. I'd love to design my blog completely from scratch. Unfortunately, not only do I not own a credit card, but I'm one of those people who are scared to buy stuff over the internet.

*sigh*

I also wish that I didn't have all these WIPs hanging over my head. Of all the stories I've ever written, I have only ever finished *one*. And that one was a vignette. I know my problem is that I never plan these stories. I get an idea and just start writing. I don't plan to fail, I fail to plan. So, I've entered WriYe 2009 and plan to join this group that are going to write nothing new over the year, but are going to work on their WIPs.

Here's hoping I can follow through.

Remember Me?

scared, nervous, anxious, distressed, embarrassed
Once again, I have spent another year reading fan fiction rather than contributing any of my own to the field, or even writing about what was happening in my every day life.  Don't worry, though, most of that time was spent either working, travelling to/from work, reading that aforementioned fan fiction, and sleeping.  Socialising was minimal at best.

I know, I have been terrible as usual—making all these promises to finish all those WIPs I have flying around all over the place—and I am about to make it worse.  I am going to participate in NaNoWriMo again this year.  It will be another fan fiction, but this time it will be Spuffy oriented.

I haven’t decided whether to post my daily efforts here or in my fiction journal, especially since I intend to let my beta readers tear it to pieces before I ‘publish’ it on the Spuffy Fanfiction Websites.  I do know that I will be posting it somewhere though, because I remember those comments from last year where all that kept me going at some points in the month.  And this year, I won’t even be taking the month off work.

Okay, I better stop writing about it before the anxiety starts up again…

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Let's see.

  1. Look at the list and bold those you have read.

  2. Italicize those you intend to read.

  3. Underline the books you love.

  4. Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

Plot Bunny

I can't even go to work anymore without getting attacked by plot bunnies.

Interaction between two of my work mates.

JP sees JS looking at him.

JP: Did you want to talk to me?

JS: No.

JP: So, you just wanted to look at me, then? (laughs and preens) I have that effect on most people.

JP justs sounded so Spike-like to me. And even though JS is a guy, his last name is Summers.

This kitten with one eye and no nose was dubbed Cy, short for Cyclops, by its owners.
Cy died just one day after being born. She was one of two in the litter — her sibling was born normal and healthy.

I'd just like to welcome Clark back to his rightful spot at the top of my LJ pages and to apologise to certain people for cutting his arm in half (you know who you are) ^_^

This is my punishment for not owning star wars memorabilia or comic books. I stick to the dvds.

We both had a good laugh over that.

She was sitting there wondering how to answer such an email.

My New Fiction Journal

quixotic, mischievous, naughty, weird, nostalgic
Hi All!

I know it has been simply ages since I last posted but RL actually started to happen a little recently. As usual lately, I am in a rush, but I wanted to introduce those of you who hadn't seen it already to my new dedicated fiction journal: [info]samanthafic

I know I haven't replied to anyone's comments yet, but I will when I get the time. My posts so far have been of the cut and paste variety with little or no brain power needed. Sorry!

I know I have been tagged for the eight random things about myself, but I'll have to get to that later. I promise that it will be done, though.

Nano Story Shelved...

  • Dec. 4th, 2007 at 12:20 AM
groggy, exhausted, sleepy, tired, drained
I have decided to remove 'Whose By Line Is It Anyway?' from my lj posts until I have finished the story and had it beta read until ready for publication on the boards/archive.

This has nothing to do with any of my readers, whom I hope will forgive me for snatching the story away from them for a while, but now that it is December, I have gone from writer mode to editor mode and I can't stop myself from changing previous chapters and the constant editing of the lj posts is driving me mad.

So I decided to stop.

I will repost after it is finished, that is a promise.

And if you think I am taking too long, you can send all the wildguys you like after me. *g*

Day Thirty

I decided not to use my usual progress bars on today's post since I passed the 50,000 word target yesterday, but I will state that I wrote a further 1,321 words before my deadline, so I now have a total of 51,604 words.

And of course, although the month may be over, the story is not. I hope to be able to finish it tomorrow because real life will start up again on Sunday with me going to visit my cousin for his birthday. Wow, that will be the first time I have gone anywhere for socialising for an entire month. I wonder if my friends remember who I am...

I DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IT! I PASSED THE 50,000 WORDS EARLY!
*snoopy happy dances around the room while laughing maniacally*

My only problem now is that this story is not finished, but the ending is all planned and I want to just finish it before doing anything else. But I have to go back to work on Monday. I'll have to start getting up at six again instead of sleep in till ten like have been doing for my entire holiday. I'm so going to die on Monday. And then there's my Begin the Begin saga that is partly done on the boards, which I have no ending planned for, and which covers exactly the same time period as this story. I just know that I'm going to get the two confused at first when I go back to that one. But that's all for later. Right now I'm just going to be happy.

I DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IT!
